One of the biggest names in Philly radio, MEL TOXIC burst onto the music scene in 1983. After college radio stint on 91.7 WKDU at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Mel landed his first pro broadcast job at WIFI-92. WIFI; the former Top 40 station, was renamed: I-92 'Rock of the 80's. “PostModern PST” aired on WPST Trenton/Philadelphia, Friday nights from 9PM – Midnight. From 1989 to 1993, PoMo PST was programmed and hosted by Mel Toxic & Scott Lowe, and also featured a cast of characters which included PostModern Pam and Alternative Adrienne.
PoMo PST played the best new and old New Wave and Alternative rock. In the Philly region, PoMo PST was the first to give airplay to such artists as: Jesus Jones, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam and Nirvana.
